We spend our whole lives as teens and college students wishing we were older. We stay up late partying, go to class hungover and tired, and we push ourselves to the extreme limit just to get that grade so we can graduate. Because we know after that the world is our oyster. We are free of the presssue and rules. Then what? You’re finally in the real world. *clap*
Once we’re there, politics and stupid bullshit clutter things up. I find myself looking forward to 3-day weekends now a lot more than a decade ago. Relaxation. Pool. Friends. Sexathons. Cookouts. Vodka. Playstation. Glutton. Moremoremore.
Maybe the moral of the story is know what you want to do when you’re younger with more ambition. Before the real working world does everything it can to put you down and beat you up. And tire you out. Young adults today, make a goal. A goal that will instill happiness and joy. Don’t only settle for the cha-ching. Don’t end up longing for the extended holiday weekends.
And make sure you find someone to share that ambition, joy and happiness with. Someone you can love and who can love you. Did you say it? “I love you. I don’t ever want to live without you. You changed my life. ” Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it. But every now and then look around. Drink it in. Because this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow.
Every passing day is another chance to turn it all around.
