The 20 Questions Book Tag

I got this tag from Kara at Bernard’s Book Blog and SHE got this tag from Destiny at Howling Libraries.  This is the first book tag blog post I have taken part in, but my bff Kara does them all the time and I could not resist any longer!  She pointed out in one of them that they make her feel like MySpace surveys.  And hell yeah she’s right!  I don’t even care if I seem lame that I remember MySpace… I was the best Top Friend you never had!!!

  1. HOW MANY BOOKS ARE TOO MANY BOOKS IN A SERIES?
There are so many great series out there, but I feel like some people authors do not know when to stop.  For it to be a series, I feel like it has to at LEAST be more than three because otherwise it is just a trilogy, yea?  So I think 7 is the ideal number of books for a series!

  2. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT CLIFFHANGERS?
I love cliffhangers – they make me want to keep reading relentlessly!  Well, as long as they are at the end of the chapter and not the end of a book before the next one has been released.  But that is one reason I binge read a series and am usually late to the party for an awesome series.  I don’t like to be in the dark waiting and waiting.  Patience is not one of my strengths.  There are only SOME cliffs that I can hang on.

  3. HARDCOVER OR PAPERBACK?
Hardcover 100%!  They are so big and strong and… wait, what am I even starting to describe here?  But I do love a hardback book for so many reasons.  You don’t get cracked and wrinkled spines on your favorite books, the dust jackets are amazing, and you don’t end up with covers that don’t stay closed for your flat lay pictures!  I also like how durable they are and I am not as afraid to take them around on trips, pack them in luggage or backpacks, etc.  And you could totally murder your enemy with a good, heavy harbdack if needed.

  4. FAVOURITE BOOK?
So for this category, I am splitting favourite book into favourite King and favorite non-King.  My favorite King is IT.  I love a coming of age story and I love the horror and friendship that envelop the town of Derry.  My favourite non-King is Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.  I have read it/listened to it almost 10 times since 2012 and it will be one that I always re-read.

  5. LEAST FAVOURITE BOOK?
I am not really sure how to answer this one.  A LEAST favourite or one I hate?  Regardless, I think the answer to this question will be answered in question #14.

  6. LOVE TRIANGLES: YES OR NO?
I used to enjoy a love triangle.  But nothing is ever gonna top Dawson Leery, Joey Potter, and Pacey Whitter from Dawson’s Creek.  So no one should even try anymore with them and just move on to a different plot.

  7. THE MOST RECENT BOOK YOU JUST COULDN’T FINISH?
I am a trooper and don’t DNF.  Also, it is extremely rare that I will read a book that I won’t finish because I tend to choose books I know I will like.  Don’t most of us do that?
  8. A BOOK YOU’RE CURRENTLY READING?
I am currently reading Witch Hunter by J.Z. Foster and it is AMAAAAAAAAAAZING so far.  Can’t wait to finish it, get a review up, and hope that other friends will be encouraged to pick this one up, too!
  9. LAST BOOK YOU RECOMMENDED TO SOMEONE?
I recommended Dexter Boomstick and How I Stole Johnny Depp’s Alien Girlfriend last.  Both are fun books to check out!
  10. OLDEST BOOK YOU’VE READ?
I think I am gonna have to go with my bud Kara on this one.  I have read Gilgamesh is the oldest piece of Western literature.  So that counts, right?

  11. NEWEST BOOK YOU’VE READ?
Dexter Boomstick takes this one, too!  It was released this past January so it is by far the newest book that I have read.

  13. BUYING BOOKS OR BORROWING BOOKS?
I always love to buy books because I am obsessed with owning things, growing my collection, and spending money.  But I have started using the Libby app lately, too… which is an app that links your local library membership to your phone and you can borrow books and audiobooks.  I am loving having access to so many more amazing audiobooks to listen to!

  14. A BOOK YOU DISLIKE THAT EVERYBODY ELSE SEEMS TO LIKE?
Easy.  The Woman In Black.  A total yawn-worthy story for me.  I was bored to tears and so overjoyed when that book ended.  I wanted to like it so much but it was just dreadful and over-detailed.  So bad.  I would never recommend this book to anyone.

  15. BOOKMARKS OR DOG EARS?
BOOKMARKS – I am no monster!  There is absolutely a special places in hell for people who dog ear book pages.  I am convinced.  And I hope they spend their afterlife always getting papercuts for engaging in such a heinous act.sonofabitch
  16. A BOOK YOU CAN ALWAYS RE-READ?
Well, it would be easy to go ahead and answer this with my favorite book, Ready Player One, but I do not want to give the same book again.  So for this… I will… go with… Pet Sematary.  It is my second favorite Stephen King book but I will never not be in the mood to re-read it.

  17. CAN YOU READ WHILST LISTENING TO MUSIC?
I can, and sometimes I prefer it.  If I am reading on my break at work or something, I will listen to some scores/instrumental music in order to drown out all the nonsense trying to interrupt my book readin’ time.  And at home I will sometimes put on scary movie records to enhance the feeling of terror.  It’s kinda my thing.
  18. ONE POV OR MULTIPLE POVS?
I prefer reading a book with a single POV.  While I do enjoy a good thriller with multiple POVs, it is becoming slightly overdone and it’s increasingly becoming less ineffective as a way to tell a good story and turning into just a poorly executed way to drag the story out longer.
  19. DO YOU READ A BOOK IN ONE SETTING OR MULTIPLE?
The last book I read was in one setting.  I can definitely do it, but I usually don’t.  I have so much going on usually that I just can’t.  And as much as I want to blow through a book sometimes, I find that pacing myself allows for better enjoyment of the book and writing.

  20. A BOOK YOU’VE READ BECAUSE OF THE COVER?
YEP!  There are tons of books I have bought and read solely for the cover.  And I will not apologize for that!  I have read some amazing books and I would never have thought to even give it a chance if the cover didn’t make me happy in my pants.

  1. I’m with you on cliffhangers, haha. Patience is not one of my virtues either (only with select populations).

Are you planning on watching Ready Player One?! :O!! I enjoyed reading that as well and am semi-intrigued(?) by the preview I saw! (The fact that I recognized it as potentially-a-Ready-Player-One trailer within a couple seconds was a good sign.)

There is definitely a special place in hell for people who dog ear books. 😐 WHYYYY.
